For as long as I can remember, I’ve started dinner with a salad. It was, and still is, a daily tradition in the home I grew up in, and I’ve continued it in my own home. Back then, I covered my greens and fresh vegetables with Hidden Valley dressings, but in the last couple of years, in an attempt to decrease the preservatives in the food my family is consuming, I decided to start making my own Ranch Dressing. My goal was to use simple, real food ingredients.
Hidden Valley Ranch Ingredients:
INGREDIENTS: Soybean oil, water, egg yolk, sugar, salt, cultured nonfat buttermilk, natural flavors (soy), spices, less than 1% of: dried garlic, dried onion, vinegar, phosphoric acid, xanthan gum, modified food starch, monosodium glutatmate, artificial flavors, disodium phosphate, sorbic acid and calcium disodium EDTA as preservatives, disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate.
Even the store bought organic dressings aren’t the best. Most contain canola oil and/or soybean oil (we avoid both) and are still loaded with preservatives.
